Michael Larsen, better known as Eyedea, passed away yesterday at the age of 28. The cause of the MC's untimely passing is unknown. Eyedea's mother, Kathy Averil, has set up a Facebook memorial page to honor her son where you can share your thoughts as well as offer donations to the MC's family. As part of Eyedea & Abilities, the duo released By the Throat last Summer.
I had the pleasure and honor of seeing and reviewing an Eyedea and Abilites performance in July and it was amazing to watch Eyedea get the audience pumped. As a big fan of their sophomore album, E&A, it was amazing to finally have an opportunity to watch the MC 20-feet away from me performing his material with the fans jumping and bobbing their heads around him in support. On stage, he simply owned it and even took a second to rap into my camera and turn it toward the audience.
In addition to family and friends, Eyedea left a collection of accolades as a battle MC and a wealth of diverse recordings and poetry. Thank you to his friends and family for sharing such an amazing talent. Hightower and Jones also wishes to send condolences to the same people closest to him who lost someone truly amazing.
