Mayer Hawthorne Debuts Henny & Gingerale

It was Humpty Hump who once sang "I'll drink all the Hennessey you got on the shelf" but it is Mayer Hawthorne that wants to take the same drink, fill your cup with it and throw a party as he does in the video for "Henny & Gingerale." In the clip, Hawthorne becomes a younger, modern Hugh Hefner as he sings about his favorite drink before proceeding to fill the cups of any of the attractive partygoers, If there was ever song built to sell Hennessey and the bachelor life, this is it. After this video, if Hennessey should be sending Hawthorne free bottles or hiring him as a spokesman. It is the perfect combination of baby making music and a baby making drink. (Note: if this happens, can I have my 10%?)

Chromeo and Mayer Hawthorne For Two Nights At House Of Blues

There are very few concerts that I would ever call perfect date concerts as concerts tend to be loud and, often, far from romantic. This concert, however, will be the moment where dancing, love, romance and incredible music all come together for one unforgettable night. Furthermore, when the night involves Mayer Hawthorne and Chromeo, it is hard to imagine anything but meeting the love of your life that night somewhere between the throwback 70's era soul groove of Hawthorne and the modern meets retro electro-funk of Chromeo.

Mayer Hawthorne and the County (Subterranean - October 27, 2010)

From the moment Mayer Hawthorne and the County stepped on the stage, the tightly packed floor of Subterranean transformed into something else, a dancehall where people came together to the 60's soul and doo-wop revivalist sounds coming from the stage. It was a moment in which youth and fun truly took over and was further aided by the County's matching prep school/prom performance attire as well Hawthorne's own attire of a three piece suit and glasses. This moment in time, however, was too brief.

Mayer Hawthorne: The New Sound Of The 60's

There is cool and there is super cool. Mayer Hawthorne definitely falls under the latter. Much like Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, he is a revivalist of a musical sound and era long gone and now relegated to oldies stations across America. It is refreshing to hear that particular sound come back without any of negativity or wasted potential surrounding it.  Also, Hawthorne's videos are worth your viewing time and can be viewed after the jump. Definitely check him and his album, A Strange Arrangement, out as well as pick up the works of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.
