Ten Years Of Gorillaz

Has it really been 10 years since "Clint Eastwood" worked its way into our ears and heart with its sweet thumping beat, melodica and brilliant vocal combination of Del the Funky Homosapien and Blur's Damon Albarn? According to a forthcoming release, The Singles Collection, 2001-2011, not only has it been a decade, it was one filled with memorable hooks, entertaining videos and a robot version of the band's guitarist, Noodle. The forthcoming release (in stores November 29) is a celebration of the radio successes of the virtual band and its creators, Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl, Monkey: Journal to the West).

Thirteen of the band's singles (minus "Rhinestone Eyes" and "Revolving Doors"), along with two remixes, comprise the collection with it seeing four different physical releases two of which include a CD/DVD and, more impressively, a box set of 7" singles. The tracklist for the collection is posted below as are a few visual highlights celebrating a decade of animated musical brilliance.

Celebrate The New Year With Free Gorillaz and Klaxons Releases

Just in time for the holiday season, Gorillaz and Klaxons have given the gift of new music. Last weekend, the two groups released two brand new and unreleased recordings online. Best of all, not is it new music for you, both recordings are free to check out.

Gorillaz' Concert On Late Show With David Letterman

Gorillaz stopped by Late Show with David Letterman to promote their North American tour with N.E.R.D and Little Dragon. In addition to this visit, Gorillaz performed a 45-minute concert for the audience. The performance  was filmed by the Letterman crew and, needless to say, it rocks. Gorillaz' North American Dates Announced

Last week, Gorillaz announced the European and Australian dates of their Escape to Plastic Beach world tour as well as a couple of North American performances. This week, the entire North American portion of the tour has been fleshed out with stops in Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin and various parts of Canada. In addition to the tour, the band is offering two different V.I.P ticket packages to any party interested in obtaining some exclusive tour items. You can read about that here.

Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach

Time for some "pretty packages of frosted delights" as Gorillaz are planning a world tour to support the critically acclaimed Plastic Beach. The tour, according to Pitchfork, will have 20 North American dates, two of which have been announced. The tour dates, so far, are listed after the jump and are accompanied by a video announcing the tour with a preview of what you can expect from a Gorillaz concert which is more than something that "tastes like chicken."

Video Graveyard

Hightower and Jones wishes to express condolences to the families of Gary Coleman and Dennis Hopper, both whom passed away this Memorial Day weekend. In their honor, I would like to dedicate this edition of Video Graveyard to both actors and their contributions to the music world in both music video and live performance.

Hear Gorillaz' Plastic Beach And Broken Bells' Self Titled Debut

Two of the biggest and most talked about albums of the year (so far, anyway) will be in stores next week: Gorillaz's anticipated follow-up to their successful 2005 release, Demon Days, entitled Plastic Beach and the long awaited collaboration between James Mercer of The Shins and Danger Mouse entitled Broken Bells.
