Video Graveyard (NFSW Edition)

It's Wednesday and H & J knows exactly what "hump day" means. Okay, I actually have no clue what that means but a couple of fans of The Coathangers definitely understand the concept in this fan-made video for "Nestle in My Boobies." The song is one of many highlights from their self-titled debut but this video...this video is something else entirely. In summary, there is a lot of humping over background visuals of...well..yeah. I think I will just let you watch this from the privacy of your own home. Nonetheless, it is a video featuring air humping, dancing and some sexy, sexy melodica playing.

The Coathangers And Kittie Debut New Videos

As many of you know by now (and if not, use the search function), I am a huge fan of The Coathangers and Kittie. So much that both bands (especially Kittie) occupy a nice amount of space in my music collection (a total number I would rather not say in the hopes of any woman showing interest in me via this blog). This week, Atlanta and London, Ontario's finest released new videos and both have a 70's visual style to them along with line dancing, zombies and music that rocks to no end. Both bands have released albums (Larceny and Old Lace, I've Failed You) that will (and better) show up on many best of lists this year (or else...) and, more importantly, should be in your collection or on your speakers at this very moment. Watch the videos for The Coathangers' "Trailer Park Boneyard" and Kittie's "We Are the Lamb" below.

The Coathangers Release "Hurricane" Video

If you follow this blog, then you already know about my love for The Coathangers. After all, they have released two exciting and energetic albums and several singles of equal quality as well as being the blog's second interview back when it was nothing more than a bunch of random posts and discussions on Los Del Rio and The Waitresses (okay, not much has really changed in almost two and a half years). With that said, the band is releasing their third full-length, Larceny and Old Lace, on June 7 and are promoting it with the excellent video for its first single, "Hurricane." The Coathangers, surgical masks and a Lynchian-esque world...stop reading this, watch the video below and pre-order the album here.

The Coathangers, My Morning Jacket Prep New Albums

As you probably heard last week, a pair of H & J favorites, The Coathangers and My Morning Jacket, are set to release new albums in the pending months. Who has two thumbs and is really excited about this? Well, everybody, especially this guy (yes, you can imagine that I also pointed toward myself).

The Sounds of Atlanta With Big Boi, Black Lips, Cee-Lo Green and The Coathangers

I have the faintest clue on what is going on in the water of Atlanta but whatever it is, the summer is hot and I want a drink. A couple of months ago, Janelle Monae released an amazing album (The Archandroid) that should already be in your collection and Adult Swim started a free downloadable singles club. July, however, is far from shabby thanks to new releases from Big Boi and Black Lips. Also, Cee-Lo Green covers Band of Horses and The Coathangers are in a contest of sorts.

On July 20th, Canadian duo Japandroids will release the second installment of their limited edition 7-inch series. Like each of the 7" in the collection, it includes an unreleased recording from their full-length debut, Post-Nothing, on one side and a cover on the other side. The newest outtake is called "Younger Us" and is accompanied by a cover of X's "Sex and Dying in High Society. You can order the 7" for Younger Us/Sex and Dying in High Society here and listen to "Younger Us" at Pitchfork.

In Case You Missed It: The Coathangers On LA Ink

Last night, The Coathangers appeared on LA Ink as the band stopped into the shop for their drummer, Stephanie, to get an awesome tattoo of the band on her leg from Corey. If you missed the appearance last night, here's their cool but brief spot on last night's episode.

Interview: The Coathangers

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting The Coathangers for a discussion of all things Coathangers from their beginning to their recordings, their new album, Scramble, and all things in between. Let it be known that the interview took place on a hot Saturday evening after a Puerto Rican Pride Parade and it was noisy outside. Thanks to the band for being generous enough to hang out and brave the heat and noise and for being really cool people overall. Also, thank you to Bekah at Suicide Squeeze and their tour manager, Emily, for granting the interview.

The Coathangers

Every so often, a band comes around that is refreshing and fun. A welcome break from the "I'm serious and my music is meant to solve world hunger and wars" or "now that we're the biggest band in the world, let's experiment with our sound because fans will buy anything we release" type bands that many artists end up becoming once they find success, fame, money and, on occasion, drugs. Sometimes, you just want to let loose, rock and have fun listening to music.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present The Coathangers.
